Spain to Host 2027 Champions League Final

Sports Minister Pilar Alegria said on Tuesday Spain has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2027 UEFA Champions League final, which will take place at Metropolitano Stadium, Atletico Madrid.

Set to welcome football fans once more on June 5, 2027, for one of Europe’s most important sporting events, the Metropolitano Stadium hosted the 2019 Champions League final when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.

Originally, UEFA reopened the bidding process for the 2027 final when Milan’s San Siro was taken off the list of candidates citing worries about continuous upgrades. Other contenders were the Baku, Azerbaijan Olympic Stadium. Still, the Metropolitano Stadium has been confirmed as the host site after Spain’s official candidacy was approved.

President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán expressed excitement for Spain’s ability to hold important European championships and aspirations for other Spanish cities including Seville, to host next tournaments.

“Why not ask for Seville to host an approaching European final with the help of the Spanish Federation? Rafael remarked, “We have the right venue and city for this, thus we will suggest this to UEFA.”

Concurrently, focus moves to the 2025 UEFA Champions League final set for June 1 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Inter Milan will challenge Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), in a much awaited match. Inter Milan won a hard-fought semi-final against Barcelona to guarantee their spot; PSG overcame Arsenal to get to the championship game.

With PSG hoping to win their first Champions League trophy and Inter Milan wanting to add yet another chapter to their legendary past, the 2025 final promises an interesting clash between two of Europe’s top clubs.
