Casillas Snubs Ronaldo and Messi as Best Player of All Time

The famous Real Madrid custodian Iker Casillas came up against some of the best in football, particularly in the heated El Clasico clashes against Barcelona. Between 1999 and 2015, Casillas made 725 Real appearances, winning five La Liga crowns, two Copa del Reys, and three Champions League triumphs. Since leaving Real, he won the Portuguese league with FC Porto before retiring in 2020.

Casillas was part of the Spanish golden generation that won the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships. He has 167 caps, only behind Sergio Ramos in Spain’s all-time caps record.

It was a surprise for everyone because Casillas did not choose either Ronaldo or Messi as the best. The Spanish footballer named Real Madrid’s legendary forward, Raul, as his best. During his career, Raуl had many great games against Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Asked during the same questioning to choose between Ronaldo and his current teammate on the French staff Zinedine Zidane, Casillas claimed he couldn’t “ever remove” one between them. Adding Diego Maradona as his favourite it is not forbidden, but in fact, challenging: Casillas’s unconditional love for Calcio and its emblems is there out in the light of the shining sun. In early 80ies Barcelona and above all in iconic Napoli years-the one that finished with two dramatic Italian league winners-Casillas showed respect.
