Can Man City still catch Arsenal title?

Pressure from the title race continues to mount for Arsenal as Pep Guardiola is urging his players to make a quick response in the Premiership race.

Manchester City are seeking a rebound from Brentford on Saturday when a nervy 3-3 draw with Everton hung their title aspirations high. The late equaliser from Jeremy Doku saved him a point but also put Arsenal back in the lead in the race to the top.

With three games still to play, the Gunners are five points behind the leaders Arsenal while Guardiola’s men have four games in hand. Now, every game is of importance for the defending champions. If the Gunners beat Brentford at the Etihad Stadium, the deficit would be narrowed to two points and they’d put pressure on the Gunners at West Ham next. But there are no room for more errors in the City.

The thing is simple and Guardiola said it is. The team needs to “put pressure on Arsenal by winning our games” and that is the only thing they have to do at this stage of the season, he said. The Everton clash showed that City had plenty of attacking firepower as well as defensive weaknesses. Just about to lose, Doku’s late strike doomed them to become one of the game’s big winners.

City will take on Brentford who are looking to secure a place in European qualification. The game is likely to see how consistent and mentally tough they will be in a game. The pressure of the title race has taken a hold of Arsenal with all the games now remaining between Man City and Arsenal almost certain to decide who will be champion of the Premier League season.
