Who Won the Community Shield 2025?

FA Cup winners Crystal Palace defeated premier league winners footballers Chelsea 3-2 on penalties to clinch the Community Shield after a scintillating 2all- to-2 in the game played at Wembley on Sunday.

Justin Deveny, the substitute, scored a goal winning penalty kick to assist the Palace in securing a sparkling victory, after Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott each missed Reds.

The striking output was started by a new member of the camp Hugo Ekitike who opened the scoring in the fourth minute off an assist by Florian Wirtz.

Palace did not wait long and equalized the score in the 17 th minute thanks to a goal of Jean-Philippe Mateta on a penalty kick after Virgil van Dijk fouls Ismaila Sarr.

Liverpool fans honoured the memory of Portugal forward Diogo Jota with 20 seconds on the clock as Jeremie Frimpong, who also came to the club this summer, led the Reds 2-1 with an attempted cross-shot flying in off the post.

But Crystal Palace proved tough to quell, they drew level again on the 77th-minute mark, Sarr netting to take the traditional season curtain-raiser to penalties.

Hero goalkeeper Dean Henderson of Palace mentioned the fact that the feelings are amazing, it is awesome to defeat such a team as Liverpool, and this is a great moment of the club history.

What good feelings! We heard him (manager) saying that we would have opportunities in the second half, and we deserved to win that in the end,” Henderson said.

Our penalties homework was amazing, thankyou to everybody behind the scenes.

To beat Liverpool is amazing. They were favourites when they came here and they have incredibly good players and are a good team. However two trophies we have brought to this club in three months and this is a great time in our history.”
