Spurs Trio’s Return Delayed Until January, Says Postecoglou

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou stated Wednesday that Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Richarlison may not return from injuries until the new year.

Van de Ven and Romero, who returned from injury layoffs in the 4-3 home loss to Chelsea, did not finish Spurs’ 4-1 win over Aston Villa last month owing to fresh ailments. Richarlison suffered a hamstring injury.

Tottenham’s four more games this month include Thursday’s League Cup quarter-final at home against Manchester United and three Premier League fixtures.

“I think both (Van de Ven and Romero) will be (back) in the new year,” announced Postecoglou.

“Not as significant an injury as last time with Micky but having a setback the medical team is going to make sure he is right to go.”

Postecoglou said forward Mikey Moore, who has been sick since October’s League Cup match against Manchester City, has returned to training.

Mikey is back training. He stated that Mikey and Ben Davies may go next week and Richarlison the first week of the new year. After their 5-0 win over Southampton, defender Destiny Udogie is uncertain for Thursday’s encounter due to fitness difficulties. Yves Bissouma will return from suspension.

Destiny is still aching from the game. We won’t rule him out but will see how he handles the turnaround “Postecoglou. Postecoglou stated United will be a “big challenge” for Spurs in the quarterfinals as Ruben Amorim took over last month and improved the team.

“He has obviously tweaked the formation a little bit, given different players an opportunity because he wants to have a look at everyone but as they showed at the weekend,” said.

“They remain tough rivals. I look forward to seeing him and beginning the adventure tomorrow.”
