Iran World Cup travel restrictions FIFA complaint

After the Iranian football federation (IFAF) announced it will take its grievances over logistical hassles for team travel during the FIFA World Cup in North America to the football’s international governing body, Iran World Cup travel restrictions FIFA complaint has arisen. Officials of the Iran national football team raised concerns about the restrictions imposed during the tournament have affected travel plans for the team that were originally submitted when they were planning the tournament.

These restrictions have been a hindrance to the delivery of the technical and operational programme, the federation said in a statement. Ironically, Iranian officials were said to have been intending to cross from their Tijuana, Mexico base camp to the U.S. two days before their Group B clash with Belgium in Los Angeles on Sunday. The request was refused, though, and the federation formally objecting. The spokesman said although logistical arrangements were already on the table, the group still has hurdles to overcome, impacting preparation schedules, especially in front of major matches.

The federation has now said it will submit an official complaint to FIFA for clarification and intervention on the issue of mobilities in tournaments. Iran had made the request specifically in relation to the time of the game, which will be at 12:00 pm local time in Los Angeles. Proponents said a sooner arrival would be required to promote the best recovery and tactical planning, especially for cross-border travel in the context of the tournament.

FIFA has not yet responded to the complaint in its public statement, and it is not known if there will be any changes to the current travel guidelines. The Iranian World Cup campaign takes a turn for the worse in the administrative arena with the situation.
