EURO 2024: What Are the Bookies Saying?

EURO 2024: What Are the Bookies Saying?

European football is always in the spotlight. Football fans worldwide keep an eye on the English, German, and Spanish leagues. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these are the leagues prominently featured on all soccer betting sites.

But the UEFA European Championships are different. Here, the national teams are clashing. This means no foreign players – and sometimes, teammates playing against one another. This changes the situation – and betting predictions as well. Before the year’s most anticipated football events begin, let’s see what the bookmakers say about it.

Group Winners

Before the “true” tournament can begin, teams will have to face off against each other in the Group Stage. This means high-stakes matches and many nations to root for. The two best teams in each group will proceed to the knockout stage. Here’s which teams those will be, according to the bookmakers:

  • Germany is expected to win Group A, and Switzerland is expected to also advance
  • Group B has many strong teams. According to the bookies, Spain and Italy have the best chance to advance.
  • England and Denmark are expected to win Group C.
  • The clash for the Group D winner position will go down between France and the Netherlands
  • Belgium is expected to win Group E. As for the second place, the bookies are cautious because there’s one spot still undecided. The playoffs to decide this spot, and several others, will be played in March.
  • Portugal and Turkey will likely win Group F

Tournament Winners

The situation will probably change a lot before the end of the tournament, but currently, the two teams most likely to win the title are England and France.

England had a good run in the qualifiers. The Three Lions cut through the group without any losses, and just two draws – one against Ukraine, and one against North Macedonia. During the qualifiers, they scored 22 goals and conceded only two. Kane, Rashford, and Maguire are joined by Walker, Trippier, and Tomori on the turf. Manager Gareth Southgate is yet to announce his squad for Germany.

France finished its qualifying group with 7 wins and a single draw against Greece, no losses. Mbappé, once the most expensive teenage footballer in history, scored 9 goals in the qualifiers. Les Bleus scored 29 goals during the qualifiers and conceded only 3. The team’s lineup is impressive, with Mbappé, Griezmann, Dembélé, and Giroud forming the tip of the spear.

As the anticipation for EURO 2024 builds, it’s clear that bookmakers have their favorites. If they are right, we’ll have a chance to see the Three Lions face the Gallic Rooster in the finals. All this at the Olympiastadion Berlin, the largest sports stadium in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. There are just a few weeks left until the kickoff of the Group Stage. So, who do you think will win?
