Cristiano Ronaldo Signs New Deal with Al-Nassr

The Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr said on Thursday that Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new deal with them until 2027.

Ronaldo, who became a free agent after leaving Manchester United and joining Al-Nassr in 2022, was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League last season with 25 goals. He has scored 93 goals in 105 games for them in all competitions.

The Riyadh-based team, on the other hand, came in third with 70 points. Al-Ittihad, the champions, led the table with 83 points, while Al-Hilal came in second with 75 points in a 34-match league last season. After signing a contract, Ronaldo said on X that a new chapter in his life has begun.

“A fresh chapter starts now. Same dream, same passion. Ronaldo wrote in a post on X, “Let’s make history together.”

A new part of the story starts. The same desire and dream. Let’s do something that will be remembered.

In 2022, Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Nassr, making him the highest-paid athlete in the world. Forbes says he has been at the top for the last three years. Ronaldo is thought to have made about $275 million by the time he turns 40.

This month, he led Portugal to a second UEFA Nations League triumph by beating Spain in the final. Ronaldo wants to record 1,000 goals in his career. He has already scored 794 goals in club football and 138 for Portugal, bringing his total to 932.

There is no doubt that his presence in Saudi Arabia opened the floodgates for several high-profile players located in Europe to make the transfer to the SPL, and the number is increasing with the passage of time, as the likes of Karim Benzema and Sadio Mané have also followed the path of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has won the Arab Club Champions Cup with Al-Nassr, but he has not yet won the SPL title. Their highest finish was second place in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
