As well the game became more aggressive, with a total of three red cards awarded in the opening fixture, which underlined the intensity and pressure of the game. Mexico played its way through the match with ease and emerged victorious by a score of 2–0.
South Korea enjoyed another close, but crucial Group A win over the Czech Republic in their second match. The game was played much more evenly, with both teams trading places. But the South Koreans were better on execution on a few occasions, and the contest was close, with the Koreans getting the better of the match.
The outcome of these matches will put pressure on the other teams in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group A, and goal difference and discipline could be key. Mexico is at the top of the group for momentum, while South Korea crawls to catch up with three valuable points.
