Xavi wants five free agents with Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, and Man Utd to benefit

The head coach of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, shows up during the news conference before the 19th round of the La Liga at Ciutat Esportiva. Joan Gamper Barcelona wants to add up to six players this summer, most of whom will be free agents. Stars from Chelsea and Manchester City are expected to join the first of one new arrivals, who has already been confirmed.

The Blaugrana are 12 points ahead of reigning champions Real Madrid in La Liga. Because of this, Xavi’s team will soon be trying to win its first Primeira Liga title since 2017/18. And since the club has been having trouble on and off the field lately, that five-year delay will be a big deal.

But even though Barca seems to be doing well again on the pitch, there is still a big financial problem behind the scenes. Because of this, the club may need to raise €200m only to get their finances in order. Because of this, star adolescent Gavi’s contract that he signed earlier this season was just canceled. Instead, the star teen is now back to being a “academy player.”

And because Barcelona can’t sign his contract, they are still in danger of losing their best player, who is worth £90 million, as a free agent this summer. This seems to have gotten the attention of Liverpool, who are said to be eager to take advantage of Barcelona’s bad luck. Due to their financial problems, the club probably won’t be able to sign many, if any, players that are worth money this summer.

But that doesn’t mean Barcelona won’t do anything. And on the contrary, Barca boss Xavi, alongside president Joan Laporta, is planning what has reported as many as five new signings.
