Wissa Completes Transfer to Newcastle United

After Alexander Isak moved to Liverpool on Monday, Newcastle United bought Brentford striker Yoane Wissa for £55 million ($74.30 million) to take his place.

Newcastle was interested in the 28-year-old DR Congo international because they knew Isak wanted to move to Liverpool, which he did for 125 million pounds. Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, said that the club is very happy that Wissa has joined because he has already shown that he can play well in the Premier League.

Howe said, “Yoane is a player we have liked for a long time, and we are very happy to have him on our team.”

“His goalscoring record and the important work he does for the team show that he is a proven Premier League player.”

Brentford had turned down Newcastle’s offers for Wissa before, which led to a standoff between the player and The Bees.

Yoane Wissa has played 137 times for Brentford in the Premier League and scored 45 goals since joining the team from French club Lorient. He hasn’t played this season because of ties to Newcastle.

Wissa posted a message on social media last week asking Brentford to let him join Newcastle.

Yoane stated he is really happy to join the Magpies and would do everything he can to make it happen for Newcastle once the trade was finalized. He remarked, “I’m very happy to be here and to sign with one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.”

“I’m really, really excited to wear the black and white shirt.” I have dreams and faith, and now I’m going to do everything I can to make them come true. I can’t wait to start.

Newcastle had a good transfer window, even though they lost Isak. They signed Wissa and German forward Nick Woltemade as strikers, and they also got Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
