Why Did Mohamed Salah Praise His Former Liverpool Teammate?

Mohamed Salah sent Harvey Elliott a poignant goodbye note as he moved to Aston Villa on loan this season, with the option to buy him next summer.

Villa signed the 22-year-old English footballer on the last day of the transfer window, even though Fulham, West Ham United, and RB Leipzig were also interested. Unai Emery’s team has to buy him, and the deal they talked about for him is worth £35 million.

Salah doesn’t use social media too much, but he is particularly active on X these days. He recently criticized the Liverpool fan page for being disrespectful to former teammates Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

Salah didn’t like a post on X that showed black-and-white pictures of the two players who had died over new additions Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak with the comment, “Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history.”

“How about we celebrate the great signings without being rude to the Premier League champions?” Salah shot back on X, standing up for his teammates strikers who helped Liverpool win their 20th league title.

The Anfield Edition site, which has over 500,000 followers, promptly said sorry.

“It wasn’t meant to be disrespectful; it was meant to draw attention to the amazing transfers this summer.” It posted a photo of Salah on a throne and said, “But we’re sorry.”

After a summer of big-money signings, Colombian winger Diaz went to Bayern Munich for 75 million euros ($87.80 million), and Nunez went to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal for a whopping 53 million euros.

Mohamed Salah has now penned a heartfelt goodbye to Harvey Elliott, noting that Villa is lucky to have you.

“You’ll always be remembered for being faithful and always being there when you were needed. You depart as a champion, and I’m sure you’ll do great things at your new club. Salah commented on X, “They are lucky to have you.”
