Who Did Gondomar SC Honor in 2025/26 Kit?

Gondomar SC, the Portuguese boyhood club of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, has dedicated their 2025/26 shirt to the brothers who perished in a vehicle collision in Spain on July 3.

Gondomar SC, a fourth-tier team in Portugal, has put photographs of the late Jota and Silva on the front of their shirts and their names on the back, under an infinity symbol. The players’ names and photos are on the club’s home, away, and third kits.

Gondomar SC, who play in the Campeonato de Portugal, released photographs of their shirt on Instagram with the remark “More than a jersey, a tribute eternal.”

“Football is more than wins and goals; it’s family, legacy, and love for our land.”

“Our new shirt has a fantastic picture of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, two sons of Gondomar who left us too young but will always be a part of our club and our football history.

“It’s like being on the field with our athletes every time they put on this jersey.”

Jota and Silva grew up in Gondomar, a town near Porto.

Last month, Liverpool said that their players would wear a “Forever 20” badge on their jerseys and jackets at the stadium throughout current Premier League season. Liverpool has also removed Jota’s shirt No. 20 from all levels of the men’s and women’s teams in honor of their late player.

Diogo Jota had a key role in Liverpool’s recent victories, such as winning the Premier League title in 2024–25, the FA Cup in 2022, and the League Cup in 2022 and 2024. Jota played in 49 games for the Portugal national team across the world.
