The Bundesliga club has stated that the young player, who is 22 years old, is currently rehabilitating from a partial MCL injury in his left knee. This year in the Bundesliga, the Austrian international has appeared for Werder 14 times and has contributed two assists while playing in the middle of the field. The club anticipates that Schmid will be sidelined for “many weeks” due to his injury.

“It’s really a shame for Romano that he suffered this injury at this stage of the season,” said Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting.

“He will be given all the time he needs in order to recover and return to us stronger than before.”
