Full-back Alex Moreno has been revealed as Aston Villa’s first January signing. The 29-year-old has been in all. But one of Real Betis’ LaLiga matches this season and will compete with Lucas Digne; Unai Emery is also looking for a winger.
Villa sign Real Betis defender for £13.3m
Alex Moreno, a left-back from Real Betis, has been confirmed as Aston Villa’s first acquisition of the January transfer window. The 29-year-old Spaniard, whose deal is pending international clearance and a visa application. Also, it becomes the club’s first signing under new head coach Unai Emery, who took over in October 2022 after Steven Gerrard left.
Moreno started 14 of Betis’ 15 LaLiga games this season and has appeared in 122 games for the club since signing from Rayo Vallecano in 2019. Moreno will wear the number five shirt, can play on the left side of midfield. IT provide competition for Lucas Digne, who joined Everton for £25 million last year. Villa is 11th in the Premier League and was eliminated from the FA Cup by League Two side Stevenage on Sunday.
