UEFA Champions League Schedule 2024/25 Announced

The biggest change, is the League stage, a new name for what was previously the group stage. Instead of 16 teams divided into four groups as was the custom in the past, the ACF will only have one league this season, with 36 participants.

For some other categories, a team must have played eight games overall, four of which must have been played at home and four away from home. The goal is to be able to identify more matchups between teams from various leagues and provide fans with a different kind of matchups to enjoy.

Eight teams ranked ninth through sixteenth will be out of the competition, and the eight top teams remaining after the league round will advance straight to the round of 16.

To choose the last sixteen, the remaining club owners—those holding nine to twenty-four spots—will split up in a knockout round. The competition will then return to straight knock out phases leading to the final following the group stages.
