UCL Semi-Final: Barcelona and Inter Share Six-Goal Classic

Thursday night in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, Barcelona and Inter Milan put up an exciting 3-3 tie loaded with drama, goals, and tactical skirmishes.

With 72% of the ball, the hosts controlled possession and put an unrelenting attacking show that registered 19 shots—nine of them on target. Early on, their efforts paid off. Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal struck in the 24th minute, then Ferran Torres added a second in the 38th.

Inter Milan seized on their opportunities even though they were under pressure for big durations. Marcus Thuram opened the score in the 11th minute; Denzel Dumfries shocked the Camp Nou with goals in the 21st and 63rd minutes.

Barcelona keeper Yann Sommer’s expensive own goal in the 65th minute equalise the visitors and completes an amazing comeback.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock stated, “It was an amazing battle to see, almost like a boxing match where opposing styles make the fight.” One heck of a game resulted from Barça and Inter being set up somewhat differently.

Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist said: “Tonight was simply extraordinary – unique to be here and see those two teams. This evening, we have been treated to some amazing football.

Barcelona’s famous possession-based approach was highlighted by their 883 passes with 91% accuracy; Inter’s more direct and counter-attacking method proved equally successful. Though Inter was caught offside five times during the game, both sides earned one yellow card.
