Tottenham’s Secret January Bid Revealed

After a’secret’ bid was presented to Crystal Palace in the final days of the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur did not sign Marc Guehi. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano believes Daniel Levy’s side could still make a bid in the summer to strengthen their defense.

Spurs had been without a starting centre-back for weeks, with Ange Postecoglou playing teenage midfielder Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin due to injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. Tottenham then offered for Guehi after Dragusin’s ACL injury left them in the lurch.

Romano thinks this was a’secret’ offer because the information didn’t surface until Monday morning’s deadline. Despite Palace’s stated intentions that Guehi wouldn’t depart before the transfer deadline, the journalist believes he will leave Selhurst Park in the summer given Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United’s recent interest.
