Tottenham transfers: Postecoglou nears LaLiga central defender exchange

Tottenham seems close to making a trade that will send a player to Spain and bring in a new center back for Ange Postecoglou’s team in north London.

Tottenham transfers: Postecoglou nears LaLiga central defender exchange

After seeing Spurs struggle at the back, especially in the second half of last season, the Australian has made getting two new central defenders one of his main goals this summer.

It is likely that former record signing Davinson Sanchez will be sold this summer. There is also talk that Eric Dier, who has been with the club for almost 10 years, could also leave.

Christian Romero is still the best central defender for the club, but even after winning the World Cup, he was nowhere near his best.

That’s why Postecoglou is working to strengthen Spurs’ defense, even though Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet wasn’t a regular starter last season. It looks like Spurs are ready to make Lenglet’s move official, though.

The French player showed some of his talent in north London, and it looks like that was enough to get him a deal.

Mundo Deportivo says that Barca will agree to the deal as long as they get Tottenham player Giovani Lo Celso in exchange.

The Argentine, who has also been linked to Aston Villa, did well on loan at Villarreal last season, but he is not likely to go back there for a third time this summer.

Even though he should get a chance to show Postecoglou what he can do in preseason, along with a number of other loan players who are coming back, the feeling is growing that Lo Celso will be sold.

The transfer is also unlikely to go down well with Tottenham fans, who were not overly impressed with the defender last season.

Lo Celso is also a player who has been somewhat harshly treated since his move to north London, given his creative qualities so lacking in the current Spurs engine room
