Sweden Gains Confidence Before Germany Showdown

Fridolina Rolfo of Sweden has only played 13 minutes and 30 seconds against Poland so far at the Women’s Euro 2025, but the comeback of the flying winger from an ankle injury has given the Swedes a boost before their Group C match against Germany on Saturday.

The 31-year-old spent stints with Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg in the Frauen-Bundesliga before joining Barcelona in 2021. She has been racing against the clock to get ready, and her cameo against the Poles on Tuesday provided her and her squad a boost before the group finale.

“I’ve given up a lot these past few weeks to be here today. It all comes back to you when you’ve worked so hard.” Rolfo told reporters at the Swedish team headquarters in Cham on Thursday, “I didn’t know if I would get to play in the Euros. It was a nightmare to get hurt.”

“I’ve been going to rehab and training for six hours a day just to get this foot better. I’ve been lying at home every day with my foot up and doing everything I can to reduce the swelling and speed up the healing process.”

Germany and Sweden have already qualified, therefore the two teams will play each other in Zurich to see who will win Group C and face the second-place team in Group D, which has France, England, the Netherlands, and Wales, all of which can still qualify. The winner of Group D will play the second-place team in Group C.

The Swedes are already sure to make it to the last eight, therefore it is not certain how much Rolfo will play against the Germans.

“Personally, I want to play as much as I can and make it to the championship.” “I always want to play, but we’ll see,” she added.
