Senegal Breaks Records, Defeating England for the First Time

Senegal beat England 3-1 on Tuesday in the International Friendlies at the City Ground here. This was the first time an African team has ever beaten England in 22 tries.

Senegal’s streak of not losing grew to 24 games, while England’s setback was their first in four games with new manager Thomas Tuchel. Harry Kane, the captain of England, said that the main reason for their surprising loss was that they couldn’t get going. He also said that they had lost their hostility.

Kane said, “Not good enough.”

“We had some good times, but things aren’t working out with or without the ball. We’re not finding the right rhythm.” We don’t have that aggressive side anymore.

In the seventh minute, Kane put England ahead when Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who had already stopped Anthony Gordon’s shot, let the ball fall into the striker’s path. Ismaila Sarr scored the first goal for the home team in the 40th minute. Diarra got a ball over the top in the 62nd minute and shot past goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s legs to increase the visitors’ lead.

Cheikh Sabaly scored deep into stoppage time, making the win a historic moment for the Africans. Kalidou Koulibaly, the captain of Senegal, said it was “fantastic” to achieve history by winning Afcon.

“It’s great. “We’re not used to making history, but we did it when we won Afcon and we did it tonight,” Koulibaly added.

He also said that they want to stay on the same route because they want to show the world that they are a good country.

“We want to keep telling the story of Senegal.” We wanted to prove that our country is good.
