Scholes Tips Anderson As United Successor

The future of the Manchester United in the midfield position has become a new controversy after the legend of the club Paul Scholes suggested Elliot Anderson as the possible successor to Brazilian star player Casemiro. Scholes, an episode on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, said that although Casemiro has played a big role in Old Trafford, he anticipates that the 32-year-old will leave the club when his contract runs out.

Scholes claimed that this season Casemiro has been better than last, but the age and the intensity of the Premier League do not allow United to count on him in the long term. The ex-midfielder pointed to Elliot Anderson who is already showing his capability as a deep-lying midfielder with the England team as a potential player that could be incorporated into the changing United tactical outline.

Nevertheless, Scholes was also realistic when he said that they have to hire more than a single midfielder in the case they would like to revert to higher European competition. He complimented the athletic ability, the steadiness under pressure, tactical development of Anderson, but said that the avenue to the title-challenging position must be the one that has more depth and specialisation.

Scholen called Anderson a very good signing but emphasized that a lot of improvement must be made wholesome, and not symbolic. As Casemiro is approaching the end of his career and United has historically had a problem with continuity in the recruitment of its midfielders, Anderson publicly fits the current trend of the club. It is still unclear whether United will follow such advice.
