Salernitana forward Dia joins Lazio

Late Friday, Lazio confirmed that they have loaned Senegal international Boulaye Dia from demoted Salernitana for two years with an option to buy. Italian media stated that the 27-year-old striker’s transfer was worth 12 million euros ($13.23 million). Neither club acknowledged the financial terms. Lazio announced, “Dia will wear the number 19 shirt.” Dia joined Salernitana in 2022 and has scored 22 goals in 52 games. Injury plagued him last season, scoring four goals in 17 games.

Marco Baroni, who replaced Igor Tudor as Lazio’s head coach, must rebuild the squad after losing several key players, notably in attack. Ciro Immobile left Lazio last month after eight years, and Luis Alberto, Daichi Kamada, and Felipe Anderson will miss this season. Sunday is their Serie A opening against Venezia.
