Salah Responds After Surprise Dropping

The controversial decision to leave Mohamed Salah out of his 2-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday has received the solid support of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot who saw the decision as essential to his team’s survival. The transfer was a major shift in the management of the squad by Slot who is trying to revive Liverpool who have been marred by a worrying nine losses in 12 games in various competitions.

Longtime guaranteed starter Salah had not been sidelined in a league match since April 2024 by former manager Jurgen Klopp. The ruling was made by Slot regardless of the fact that Salah had been able to achieve his unprecedented success last season, topping both scoring and assisting charts in one season with 29 goals, 18 assists, and the Player of the Month award. He has had an unusually small season output of four goals in the league, which is atypical of him.

The coach also told the fans that even the best players undergo form cycles. “Players are human,” Slot said. Mo has done much over the years and he will stay on doing it.

This move by Slot can be an indication of a new generation of more rigorous standards of selection, however, it is his belief that Salah will be back to scoring ways soon enough.
