Salah Calls Fan Criticism of Alexander-Arnold ‘Harsh’

Following Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was booed by Liverpool supporters at Anfield during their Premier League game against Arsenal on Sunday, star striker Mohamed Salah has shown support.

Salah claimed that given his declaration to quit his boyhood club this summer, the defender did not deserve such treatment. Expected to join Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold will depart Liverpool when his contract runs out in June.

Born in Liverpool, the English football player developed through the system of the team before making his debut in 2016.

Following his declaration of his leaving, he played his first game against Arsenal, a 2-2 draw this Sunday, and got jeers from the supporters.

Mohamed Salah said to Sky Sports that the behavior of the supporters was aggressive.

He underlined that the athlete should be respected for what he had provided the supporters and the club.

“I think somehow the fans were being harsh with him,” Salah remarked.

“He gave it all to the people, hence I believe he did not deserve it at the moment; instead, the fans should treat him the best manner they could.

“We shouldn’t act this way with anyone who constantly appreciates the people, who came here even for six months.”

Further expressing his opinions, he stated he expects the next game to be unique and the athlete deserves a fitting farewell.

Imagine someone who devotes his all for twenty years. This is not the right way things should be. Given he deserves the farewell, I hope it will alter next game, against Brighton or in the last game of the season.
