Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United great, said that playing with Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. put even more pressure on his son Kai.
Rooney’s oldest kid, Kai, is in United’s academy and is thought to be one of the best players in his age group. Until Cristiano Ronaldo departed the Red Devils to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in 2023, Kai Rooney was Ronaldo Jr.’s teammate.
Wayne Rooney mentioned on a podcast that these kids have more pressure on them because of who their dads are.
“They’re under a little more strain too. Rooney recalled, “Kai and [when Cristiano] Ronaldo came back, Ronaldo’s boys and Michael Carrick’s boy were all on the same team.”
“You go and watch, and then all of a sudden there are ten times as many people as usual around the pitch watching. This makes things a lot more stressful because they’re there to see how the three kids play and stuff.” They have to be ready.
This summer, Kai and Jacey Carrick played for Manchester United at the U16 level. However, because of his promise, 15-year-old Rooney has been moved up to the U-18 side.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., on the other side, has also done well with Portugal’s U-15 team, helping them win a trophy.
The young attacker wants to play with his father, who has signed a contract with Al-Nassr until June 2027 and is one of the best football players of all time.
