Rodrygo rejects Saudi offers: WHY?

Although Real Madrid striker Rodrygo expressed appreciation for the interest from other teams, he intends to spend many years remaining with the LaLiga team.

In 31 games for Real across all levels this season, Rodrygo has scored 12 goals and given eight assists. The 24-year-old Brazilian was apparently the target of rich mid-season proposals from Saudi Arabian league clubs.

“The terms of the proposals (from Saudi), that’s more of my father’s work, who is my agent, and the club. I know not much about the specifics. That other teams show interest makes me extremely happy,” Rodrygo said to reporters on Monday.

“Here, I am rather delighted. I have been here for a really lengthy period. Playing with this shirt in the Champions League is most amazing, I always say.

Rodrygo’s present contract with Real extends until 2028. Completing the list of the top five nations for their clubs’ January expenditure were Germany ($295.7 million), Italy ($ 223.8 million), France ($209.7 million) and Saudi Arabia ($202.1 million).

The most expensive player signed in the mid-season window was Brazil’s Neymar, who left Aston Villa to join Santos and Colombian attacker Jhon Duran, who transferred from Al-Nassr for around 77 million euros ($79.97 million).

Following both teams failing to automatically qualify automatically for the final 16 under the Champions League’s revised structure, Real Madrid face Manchester City away on Tuesday in the first leg of their knockout playoff.
