Robin van Persie predicts Arsenal will win Premier League over Manchester City
Robin van Persie thinks Arsenal will beat Manchester City to win the Premier League. He claims the Gunners have been playing like champions in the last few weeks. When the Premier League season starts again this weekend, the Gunners will have an eight-point advantage over Man City.
This is because they have won six straight league games after a scary slump. Arsenal hasn’t won the Premier League since 2004. Manchester City, on the other hand, is trying to capture its fifth title in the last six years.
Mikel Arteta’s team still has to go to the Etihad Stadium, which is a tough place to go, but Van Persie still thinks Arsenal will win the title. The Dutch superstar, who played for Arsenal for eight years, won the Premier League in 2013 with Manchester United.
‘If you look at this period of time, this is where every single point really counts,’ Van Persie told.
‘They’ve had a couple of difficult games recently. They got the three points there, and that is what makes a champion’s team. ‘They’ve been proving that. But the last stretch is always the difficult one, so it’ll be interesting to see.
‘But my personal feeling is that they will go for it – that they will win the league. It’s been a while, so I’m happy for them to win it.’
On Saturday, Arsenal plays Leeds United, which is fighting to stay in the Premier League. Manchester City plays Liverpool.
