Real Madrid is planning to make roster changes this summer after losing in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League against Manchester City. Adding a new striker, Jude Bellingham, and a new fullback are high priorities to give backup and competition for Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid eyeing La Liga winger with €60 million release clause
In addition, journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin of El Debate claims that Real Madrid may be shopping for a new winger, with the fast Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal surfacing as a potential target.
Despite Rodrygo’s brilliant play, Real Madrid’s right flank has been a source of concern. The Brazilian is not suited for the position of wide player and performs better when he drifts within the offensive third.
Carlo Ancelotti and company could benefit from adding Chukwueze, who can play right-wing and in the attacking line. This is an excellent season for the 23-year-old Nigerian international, who has scored 13 goals and assisted on 11 more in 46 total appearances across all competitions.
Last month, he led Villarreal to a 3-2 victory over Real Madrid thanks to a spectacular effort that included a pair of goals. Because of this, Los Blancos are considering making a summer transfer for Chukwueze.
The Nigerian international has a €60 million release clause in his contract with the Yellow Submarines until 2024. According to the report, Real Madrid would attempt to provide a player as part of the operation to cut the transfer fee if they moved on their interest in him.
Given that Real Madrid wants to get rid of Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio’s future is still uncertain, it makes sense to bring in another striker, and Chukwueze is a good choice because of his age and track record in La Liga. It is unclear, however, if the Merengues will pursue the Villarreal star despite their planned massive investment in Bellingham.
