In the agreement between FIFA and Qatar at the time of bidding to host the World Cup, Qatar agreed to sell alcohol during football matches, but eleven weeks before the start of the tournament, FIFA officials and the Qatari government a discussion was held again in this regard. A statement from FIFA revealed that non-alcoholic beverages, i.e. non-alcoholic beverages, can be consumed in all eight football stadiums. However, other intoxicating or alcoholic beverages including wine, champagne and whiskey may be served in luxury areas only.

Most football fans do not have access to these exclusive or luxury areas where they can drink alcohol. The purchase of alcohol is strictly prohibited in Qatar.
