PSG hits “perfection” with a 6-0 win over Montpellier

PSG trounced Montpellier 6-0 at the Parc des Princes on Friday night with a great game. Coach Luis Enrique called the win “perfect,” as his players continued their good start sans Kylian Mbappe.

The Ligue 1 champions scored from many players, demonstrating their depth and versatility. Bradley Barcola scored twice, Marco Asensio, Achraf Hakimi, Warren Zaire-Emery, Lee Kang-in, and others scored. This triumph and last week’s 4-1 win over Le Havre prove PSG can battle without Mbappe.

Yes, Luis Enrique commented “It was a great night.” Every player got 16 stars tonight. They need 16 offensive and defensive talents, which we want.

PSG played with passion and style with two adolescents and eight 18–25-year-olds. Midfielder Joao Neves, 19, started after being signed from Benfica for a lot of money. Desire Doue, a 19-year-old Rennes player who won silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics, substituted in the second half.

PSG hits "perfection" with a 6-0 win over Montpellier“I think in two games you can already see the profile of the players we have brought in,” said. “They are totally suited to our way of playing and I think they will all bring us a lot.”

From the start, PSG led. In the fourth minute, Barcola scored. Barcola assisted Neves set up Asensio for the second goal midway through the first half. Barcola, Hakimi, Zaire-Emery, and Lee Kang-in scored again for PSG in the second half. A box-edge goal by Lee Kang-in was the sixth and final.

Since Luis Enrique took over a year ago, PSG has scored six Ligue 1 goals twice. One was a March 6-2 triumph against Montpellier.

Montpellier struggled to match PSG’s effort. Both teams had tiny budgets and made few summer acquisitions, therefore they were far apart financially. “They were much stronger than us and dominated from start to finish,” stated Montpellier coach Michel Der Zakarian.

PSG will win their 11th French title in 13 years due to their Ligue 1 dominance and Qatari ownership. PSG leads Ligue 1 ahead of Lyon, Monaco, Lille, and Marseille. Everyone plays Saturday.
