Postecoglou Replaces Nuno as Forest Manager

The Premier League team Nottingham Forest said on Tuesday that they had fired Nuno Espirito Santo and hired Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach.

Postecoglou has signed a contract that will last until June 2027, according to an ESPN report. Forest fired Espirito Santo on Monday. Last month, the Portuguese coach revealed that his relationship with the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, had fallen apart.

Marinakis said in a statement that we are hiring a coach who has a long history of winning championships.

Marinakis said in a statement on hiring Postecoglou, “We are bringing a coach to the club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies.”

“His experience coaching teams at the highest level and his desire to build something special with us at Forest make him a great person to help us reach all of our goals.”

Tottenham Hotspur fired Greece-born former Australia international Postecoglou in June after two seasons with the club. In May, they won their first major prize since 2008, the UEFA Europa League, after beating Manchester United in the final.

In Postecoglou’s first season as manager, Tottenham Hotspur finished fifth in the Premier League. Last season, they finished 17th, which was their worst league performance since 1977, when they were relegated.

Postecoglou will probably get a bad reception when he returns to north London. On Saturday, when Forest plays Arsenal, he will be in charge of his first game as Forest boss.
