Porto Managerial Shake-Up: Bruno Out

Following defeats to Nacional and Gil Vicente, Porto dismissed Vitor Bruno on Monday, bringing the two-time Champions League winners to third place in the Primeira Liga after eighteen games. Bruno signed a two-year contract in June 2024 to replace Sergio Conceicao, who left after seven seasons and eleven titles, including three Portuguese league championships.

Sporting lost Ruben Amorim to Manchester United in November, while Benfica fired German Roger Schmidt in August, making Porto the 12th club to change managers this season.

Following Porto’s 1-0 League Cup semi-final loss to Sporting, midfielder Pepe made fun of Bruno on social media. On Thursday, Porto, one of 32 clubs to gain a position in the expanded 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, will face Olympiacos in the Europa League.
