Pep said he wouldn’t leave the club as long as the charges weren’t settled.

Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, says he wants the more than 100 Premier League charges against the team for alleged financial misdeeds to be taken care of “as soon as possible.” City is enjoying their third English Premier League title in a row.

In February, they were sent to an independent commision for 115 alleged rule violations between 2009 and 2018. The Premier League also said that the club hadn’t helped with the investigation, which had begun in December 2018.

The seriousness of the charges, which the club strongly denies, and the seriousness of what would happen if they were found guilty make it likely that the case will take a long time.

Guardiola does not want a cloud to hang over his team’s achievements this season, when they are trying to win three trophies. He wants an answer as soon as possible.

But the Catalan, who is under contract until 2025, said he wouldn’t leave the club as long as the charges weren’t cleared up.

“I’d like the Premier League and the judges to make a decision as soon as possible,” he said before Wednesday’s game against Brighton. “That way, if we did something wrong, everyone will know.”

“And if we do what we think is right as a club for a long time, then people will stop talking about it.

“We’d love it tomorrow, but we’d love it more this afternoon than tomorrow.

“I hope they aren’t too busy and that the judges can see both sides and decide what is best because, in the end, I know we won, we won fairly on the field, and we have no doubts.”

It’s not the first time City has been in the news because of money problems. Since the Abu Dhabi United Group bought the team in 2008, it has changed both on and off the field.

In 2014, the club was fined €60 million ($64 million) for not following UEFA’s rules on “Financial Fair Play.”

The governing body of European football, UEFA, kicked them out of UEFA games for two years in February 2020 because they “seriously broke” financial fair play rules.

The penalty was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport later that year, but the club was fined $10,000 because it had tried to stop the probe.
