On Monday, Santos FC announced that Brazilian superstar Neymar had indeed gone through a successful arthroscopic knee surgery, which is a good news that he will be able to be completely fit before the 2026 world cup. The 33-year-old forward has been having problems with injuries all season.
In his statement, Santos outlined that, an arthroscopy was carried out to treat a medial meniscus injury. This operation had been a success and the athlete is recovering well. The club also gave an update that Neymar will be released later in the day (Monday) and will undergo his rehabilitation program immediately. Although the official date of returning is yet to be confirmed, through Global Esporte it was reported that the star might be able to resume within a month.
Neymar has been vital to Santos as it has assisted the club to stay afloat in a challenging season and not be relegated out of Brazil premier league. Since 2023, when he has been absent due to recurrent injuries, this has been a big challenge to both club and country. Neymar being the leading international goal-scorer in South America with 79 goals, his health will be a major concern to the national team of Brazil even before the 2018 tournament.
Brazilian coach Carlo Ancelotti pointed out that Neymar should be completely fit to make it to the squad during the world cup which will be held between 11 June to 19 July in Canada, Mexico and United States. Brazil will play against Scotland, Morocco and Haiti in Group C.
Neymar, who is already undergoing rehabilitation, has given the club and fans hope that the forward will surely come back to match fitness before the season ends and make a decisive impression on Santos and Brazil with him in the club.
