Neymar said he “suffered every day” away from the pitch as he gets ready to go back to Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia’s best football team following his injury.

As he detailed being on the sidelines while his club dominated the Saudi Pro League during his 12-month absence, the 32-year-old footballer sobbed. After signing for two years, the former Paris Saint-Germain star suffered a knee injury while on 2026 World Cup qualifying activities in October 2023, thereby leaving the Riyadh team.

Crying, Naymar reported his remarkable recovery to the NR Sports YouTube channel: “I was in agony. By then I understood it was serious. My ideal is to be playing football.

“Every day off the field has seen suffering. This hurts the most. Football, friends, and family come first. After every injury, I got up. I do not come back halfway.”

Neymar’s remarks on the treatment table hinted at a brief Middle Eastern stay. After returning to full training, Neymar is on Al Hilal’s AFC Champions League squad for Al Ain. Neymar’s contract runs until summer 2025, but he can remain in Riyadh for still another year.
