Neymar Commits to Santos Until 2026

Neymar Jr. has made his future officially in Santos, a signature to continue playing with the Brazilian club until the conclusion of 2026. The news, which was verified by Santos on Tuesday, is a big milestone of the forward in his career as he prepares to make a possible comeback in the national team of Brazil before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In January 2025, the 33-year-old came back to the club where he started as a boy and joined Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, having a long and successful European career. Irrespective of his fitness question, Neymar wasted no time in justifying his price, and he played a key role in securing the survival of Santos in the top flight of Brazil. In the last five games of the season he was able to score five goals and that assisted the club to avoid relegation.

In an emotional video posted on the official social media profiles of Santos, Neymar spoke about the club as his home and added that he wanted to tie up some loose ends with the club and its fans. In reference to the club, he said, Santos is my place, I can call home, and I would like to fulfill the dreams that have not been actualised.

The commitment of Neymar is within a difficult recovery process. In October 2023, the forward sustained a severe injury to his left knee, a meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament injury, on international duty. He recently had an arthroscopic surgery, which was reportedly successful as Santos affirmed that it was done by the national team doctor of Brazil.

Neymar Commits to Santos Until 2026

The all time greatest scorer of Brazil with 79 goals has not been playing in national team since the time of injury. In October, the head coach Carlo Ancelotti clarified it that Neymar will only be factored into a selection after he is thoroughly fit.

As the 2026 world cup will take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States, the extension of Neymar is an indication that he owes Santos and is planning to rejuvenate his career on the global stage.
