Newcastle Turn Down Liverpool Bid for Isak

British news outlets said on Friday that Newcastle United had turned down Liverpool’s official offer for striker Alexander Isak.

The Magpies think Isak is worth roughly £150 million, while the Reds are said to have offered £110 million plus more. The Sweden international is thinking about leaving Newcastle this summer. He has been practicing with his old team, Real Sociedad, after Eddie Howe didn’t pick him for the team’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Isak transferred from Real Sociedad in La Liga to Newcastle for £60 million in 2022. Last season, he scored 27 goals in 42 games in all competitions.

In July, British news outlets said that Liverpool was thinking about signing Isak for up to £130 million.

Newcastle has constantly said they don’t want to let the player go this summer, but Liverpool keeps trying to get Isak to sign with them.

Last month, the Premier League champions informally asked Newcastle about a deal. Now, they have made an official offer.

Liverpool is likely to make a better offer for Isak since manager Arne Slot really wants to get the striker before the new season starts. Liverpool had already paid £265 million on Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Hugo Ekitike, without any extras.

Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher have all left for an initial £115 million.

Isak’s contract with Newcastle lasts for three more years, but the Magpies are already searching for possible successors in case he leaves. The club is still adamant on its position that he is not for sale.
