Modric snubs Ronaldo, Messi in six-a-side team?

Luka Modric, a legendary midfielder, left Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi out of his perfect six-a-side lineup, sparking debate.

First with Tottenham Hotspur, Modric joined Real Madrid for an estimated £30 million in 2012. A vital Los Blancos midfielder since then, the Croatian playmaker has appeared 563 times and scored 41 goals. Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, and Kroos have played with Modric.

Modric upset fans by excluding Ronaldo and Messi from his November dream six-a-side team. He started with Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas for 63 matches. “I played with Iker, so it’s easy,” Modric remarked. “He’s great, not just because we played.”

Modric preferred Paolo Maldini and Roberto Carlos, “possibly the best left-back ever,” above Fabio Cannavaro, despite his World Cup and Ballon d’Or triumphs.

Modric selected between Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane in midfield, realising the challenge. He said, “It’s very hard,” emphasising skill. “All of these are great, but I’ll pick two.”

The striker position was again problematic for Modric, who chose Ronaldo Nazario above Ronaldo and Messi. Modric said, “My choice, Cristiano and Ronaldo. This was my boyhood favourite. I played with one.”

Modric chose Iker Casillas, Roberto Carlos, Paolo Maldini, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, and Ronaldo Nazario to define his career and philosophy.

Although controversial, Modric’s lineup honours legends. He may disappoint fans, but his dream team is talented.
