Modric Set to Join AC Milan

Igli Tare, the sporting director for AC Milan, said on Wednesday that Croatian midfielder Luka Modric had agreed to join the team.

Modric in May stated that he would quit Real Madrid following the FIFA Club World Cup, concluding a 13-year tenure at Los Blancos where he won 28 trophies including six Champions League crowns. Tare said that the Croatian had agreed to join the team after they talked in person earlier this month.

“I talked to him in person and saw a guy who wants to compete.” His arrival is vital for a group that needs players like him, leadership,” Tare remarked.

Luka’s first question to me was, “Will we be a team that can win the championship?” He aspires to be a top player from the outset and has won six Champions Leagues.

“He is important because of the mentality, leadership, and professionalism he will show.” This story is even more interesting because he is an AC Milan supporter. It would be excellent for him to have a great season because the World Cup is at the end of the season.

According to sources Milan and Modric have finalised personal terms, and the Croatian will join the club in July after the Club World Cup is over. He will sign a contract worth €3.5 million ($4 million) a year, with the option to extend it for another year.

The Italian club has chosen to sign Modric after Tijjani Reijnders joined Manchester City for an estimated €68 million.
