Messi unveils Argentina’s special edition shirt

Argentina will host Peru in Conmebol World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday wearing a unique Albiceleste outfit. The team’s stars announced this debut on social media, shown some of the equipment, lead by Lionel Messi, showcasing the team’s 50-year heritage of achievement.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) launched this to commemorate its 50-year partnership with Adidas during the most successful period in Albiceleste history, when they won three World Cups in 1978, 1986, and 2022.

The design is traditional to capture the most important events of this commercial partnership. In its iconic style, the 1974 World Cup jersey in Germany had strong stripes, including a sky blue one in the center. The AFA insignia, laurels, and details are embroidered in gold to honor the world champion.

On the reverse label, ’50 Years – In the soul and in the flesh’ in gold commemorates this historic team’s greatest moments and the three stars that make them three-time world champions.

The back embroidery features the first AFA-exclusive logo commemorating the 50th anniversary of the convention. Black shorts and socks complete the conventional look.
