Mbappe La Liga Debut Ends in 1-1 Draw

In the closing minutes of the match at Son Moix Stadium, Mallorca appeared closer to victory than the Real Madrid Superstars, but they were unable to overcome them, according to AFP.

After Rodrygo had given Madrid the lead early on, the hosts equalised in the second half by a spectacular header from Vedat Muriqi. However, Mallorca goalkeeper Dominik Greif denied the former Paris Saint-Germain player. Hence, Mbappe’s Disappointing La Liga Debut Ends in 1-1 Draw.

At the press conference, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti stated, “We went ahead, we had the chances to get the second, and then in the second half we lost balance.”

“We conceded counter-attacks, it was not a good game, it was quite a clear game to see that we need to defend better and have better balance on the pitch.”

Jude Bellingham started in midfield alongside Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo, Ancelotti’s starting lineup from Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta. Mbappe scored in that victory, but the 25-year-old player was unable to add another goal to commemorate his first game in his new country.

The Italian coach went on, “We have to perform better and with more attitude.” We can learn a lot from this game because it makes it obvious where we made mistakes. In terms of defence, Mallorca performed much better than we did.”

Mbappe missed a chance as Madrid maintained their lead but was unable to increase it. On social media, his admirers attacked him, with one calling him a “Biblical stinker” on X.

On X, someone else remarked, “Mbappe’s best bench is irrelevant.” Awful, dismal performance that alters far too late. Honestly, what a waste of two hours.”
