Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Manchester United, has supported manager Ruben Amorim to turn things around after the club finished 15th in the Premier League last season.
Ugarte told British media on Monday that the team is still fully motivated and unified under Amorim’s guidance. He stated, “We believe in the coach.” Amorim became the manager of United in November of last year, but the team only won seven of their 27 Premier League games, which was their poorest finish in the league ever.
The season concluded in more sadness when United didn’t qualify for the Champions League and lost badly to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Ugarte remarked, “We need to make things better.”
The Uruguayan, who also played for Amorim at Sporting, said, “We are all very motivated because we believe in the coach and what he wants, and that is very important.”
The Uruguayan midfielder, who used to play for Amorim at Sporting CP, said that the team went through a lot of changes last season, such as a new coach and a new formation.
“We changed our coach and our formation last year,” he said.
“You have to be responsible when you play for United.” It can take a while for the connections to get to know each other. I already know the league and the other teams, which is good.
Manchester United is in the US right now for their pre-season trip. They will play two friendly games: one against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday and one against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.
On August 17, the Red Devils will start their 2025–26 Premier League season against Arsenal.
