Manchester City won 1-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers

In a Premier League encounter here at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, Manchester City narrowly but significantly won 1-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the thirty- fifth minute Kevin De Bruyne strikes. Now third on the rankings with 64 points after 35 games, the victory keeps City under pressure on the championship race. City controlled the game, accumulating 64 percent of the possession and completing 684 passes with 90 percent accuracy.

Despite their significantly greater possession, they only saw two shots on target out of a possible nine attempts. Wolves also destroyed their defense, but from six efforts only registered one shot on target.

There were no yellow or red cards shown in the quite neat game. Still, wolves indicated their sporadic threat on the break by earning 11 fouls compared to City’s seven and by taking more corners five to four.

Following their victory, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola offered his opinions on the team’s development, noting that they have progressed and are now regularly winning games.

“We are better than weeks ago, winning games in a succession,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “It’s good to win when we play the way we played today; but, we cannot relax Southampton, Bournemouth, and Fulham (left to play).”

Liverpool still leads in the table with 82 points; then, Arsenal follows on 67. With City just three points behind Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea closely follow with 62 and 60 points respectively. City has participated one more game than their closest rivals, so their title prospects get extra boost in the later half of the season.

Every point counts, and today’s victory could prove crucial in an exciting Premier League run-in as only three games remain.
