Liverpool joins Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race. Currently, three teams are competing for the services of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer specialist, and columnist for CaughtOffside assert that at least three of Europe’s top teams, including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, are interested in signing the young German playmaker.
Although Bayer Leverkusen “remains convinced” the 19-year-old would stay with the club for at least one more season, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Real are also thought to be keeping an eye on Wirtz’s position.

It is hardly surprising that Wirtz is being pursued by European powerhouses given how well he has performed for the Bundesliga since making his senior debut almost a year ago.
The Pulheim-born midfielder has made close to 100 appearances for Die Werkself and has contributed to 21 goals and 28 assists across all competitions.
Wirtz is unquestionably on track to overtake Kai Havertz, who signed with Chelsea back in 2020, as Germany’s next breakout star. For clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool, all of which need to upgrade their midfield, this is an opportunity too good to pass up.
