Lionel Messi Shines as Inter Miami Beats Montreal

Lionel Messi led Inter Miami past Montreal CF 4-2 in the Major League Soccer (MLS) game here at Chase Stadium on Wednesday with two goals and an assist. The triumph represented Miami’s second in the past nine meetings overall in all divisions.

Now ranking sixth in the Eastern Conference, it was also their first triumph in the last four MLS games. Messi helped Miami lead the first half with 1-0 by opening the score with a 27th-minute netting of the ball from outside the box.

Miami extended the advantage in the 68th minute as Luis Suárez drove the ball into the right corner once more proving to be crucial with an assist. Just three minutes later, Suárez hit once more, capitalizing on a Montreal defender’s mistake to increase the score to 3–0.

Sitting at the basement of the Eastern Conference, Montreal pulled one back through Dante Sealy in the 74th minute. Still, Messi kept up his outstanding performance in the game; Suarez returned him favor with an assist in the 87th minute.

Although Victor Loturi scored second for Montreal in the extra time, it was useless since Miami maintained a 4-2 lead. Regarding the Wednesday victory as well as the 3-3 draw against Philadelphia, Miami head coach Javier Mascherano commended his squad.
