Lewandowski’s three-game ban upheld – reports
Barcelona’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski is set to miss three games after his suspension appeal was rejected.
It has been widely reported throughout Spain that the Spanish administrative tribunal of sport (TAD) met on Wednesday and decided that the ban will remain in effect.
Hwas allowed to play against Espanyol over the weekend after the ban was suspended as a “precautionary measure,” prompting complaints from the Spanish club.
It now appears that Lewandowski will be benched, though it may not be as simple as that, with reports suggesting that Barcelona may appeal the decision again. Xavi mentioned Lewandowski in his press conference yesterday and seemed confident that the striker would be able to play against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
Indeed, Lewandowski was left out of tonight’s Copa del Rey squad to face Intercity because the coach felt it was a good time to rest him.
