Manchester United has initiated communication with Lille over the acquisition of central defender Leny Yoro. Yoro, who is 18 years old, is one of the young center-backs that Manchester United is considering. Jarrad Branthwaite continues to be a top priority, but, Everton has not shown any hint of lowering their £70m asking price. United will only consider pursuing Branthwaite again if they are given guarantees that Everton are willing to negotiate on the transfer fee.
Leny Yoro chase escalates as Man Utd contact Lille
Everton declined Manchester United’s original proposal, which was believed to be valued at £35 million plus further payments. Manchester United is hesitant to become involved in a protracted narrative. It is anticipated that United would fulfil the €40m release clause specified in Joshua Zirkzee’s contract with Bologna.
Negotiations are now taking place regarding the potential transfer of the Dutch forward, who is currently participating in Euro 2024 in Germany. Subsequently, the decision of whether to engage in discussions with United on a possible transfer will rest with the player and his representatives. If the transfer for Zirkzee does not happen, United have alternative options.
Arsenal has also expressed interest in the 23-year-old player. Additionally, AC Milan was on the verge of finalising a deal earlier this summer, indicating that Manchester United may face competition for Zirkzee’s signature. Manchester United has implemented a recruitment policy in collaboration with INEOS. They desire a recruitment team that will determine the specific areas in which they need to improve and identify three or four players who they believe can effectively contribute to Manchester United.
“They wish to avoid a situation where they have to relentlessly pursue a top priority player throughout the summer, as they have done in previous transfer windows, only to be left without a player when the start of the season approaches.”
“Strengthening the centre-back position is certainly a priority for them.”
“Leny Yoro is considered to be inexperienced but highly promising as a player.” He is one of several center-backs that Manchester United is considering.
