Lamine Yamal Signs Six-Year Deal with FC Barcelona

Lamine Yamal signed a six-year contract extension with FC Barcelona on Tuesday after helping the club win a domestic triple.

Yamal’s contract expired at the end of the 2025–26 season, but Barcelona quickly offered a new one until 2031. Yamal, who made his senior squad debut aged 15 in 2023, has thrived under Hansi Flick.

This season, the adolescent wonder scored 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances, helping Barcelona win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. In a statement, Barcelona said the contract extension showed its long-term commitment to Yamal and its high potential.

The renewal of Yamal shows Barça’s project’s strength. The club said he emerged like few others in world football.

The statement stated, “The lad from Mataró, near Barcelona, has exploded onto the world stage with performances that are already part of Barcelona’s history.”

Yamal is the youngest La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup goalscorer with 25 in 115 appearances for Barcelona. He’s the youngest player with 100 club appearances.

As a teenager, Yamal has become a global football star. Along with his domestic accomplishments, he helped Spain win the European Championship last summer, confirming his status as a promising young footballer.

Yamal has been compared to Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldinho by commentators and fans after his spectacular season.
