Kylian Mbappe, the Real Madrid forward, will not play in France’s next qualifier to the world cup against Azerbaijan on Sunday because of ankle injury, which was confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Friday. It happened when the 26-year-old was injured during France’s 4-0 win over Ukraine, in which he scored twice and assisted one goal, and the victory over Ukraine guaranteed France a place in the 2026 World Cup.
This loss of Mbappe is followed by the departure of fellow player Eduardo Camavinga to a French training camp due to a minor muscle injury, leaving the team feeling a bit exhausted before the match.
Mbappe, who began his professional career in 2016 with AS Monaco at the age of 16, has since become one of the stars of world football. He is the youngest-ever goalscorer in Monaco, topped the Champions League record books as the youngest to score 30 goals, and recently scored 400 goals in his career, becoming the youngest player in the 21st century to do so.
Mbappa scored 42 goals in his first season at Real Madrid, making him the highest goal scorer in the first season of any player in the club. Over time, he has gained global recognition as one of the strikers and a future Ballon d’Or candidate, having won Ligue 1 Player of the Month five times and numerous Golden Boots between 2018-2023.
Since France will rely on other attacking targets without their top goal scorer, Azerbaijan, coach Didier Deschamps will strive to ensure that they keep the momentum in the qualification.
In the meantime, Real Madrid will be ready to face their next La Liga game against Elche on November 24, as the club also hopes that Mbappe will recover very soon to resume his record-breaking performances and play a significant role in Spain.
